Whilst we were unsuccessful in persuading Trull Parish Council to allocate any of the
parish's CIL receipts towards the purchase of Trull Meadow, it was willing to provide
money for other infrastructure projects. The Friends of Trull Meadow identified
some projects from the suggestions made at an Open Evening held in November and
in January this year funds were approved for providing an all weather access path
from Wild Oak Lane (together with associated drainage, fencing and gates), an oak
tree to replace that which fell in the storm of November 2021 (with protective
fencing), two oak benches and a litter/dog waste bin. It is planned to undertake these
projects in the Spring.
The slow progress towards replacing the unsafe footbridge from the Meadow to Mill
Lane has taken another step forward, with Somerset Council approving the
expenditure and awarding the contract. We are hopeful that a new, improved bridge
will be in place by the end of this Summer. Before the work starts, an adjacent ash
tree has to be felled, to be replaced by two native species trees. Originally scheduled
for last November, now this is expected to be done in the last weeks of February,
ground conditions permitting.
