Much has happened since July 2020 when the "Save Trull Meadow" website was produced.
Then, we outlined that a Trust had been set up and fundraising efforts were in place to raise enough money to enable the Trust to purchase Trull Meadow which the owners, Queen's College, had put up for sale.
Well, NOW WE HAVE DONE IT! We have secured just under six acres of this historic green space for the use of the local community - it really is great news and has been welcomed by our local residents.
At the present, the meadow is used by the community for outdoor activity such as recreational leisure, exercise and dog walking. There is no intention of changing that and in fact the charitable object of the Trust is "for the public benefit and to provide and maintain land within Trull Meadow for that purpose." It also achieves the aim of protecting the area from development - because it is now our land!
So, to ensure the maximum public benefit of the meadow into the future, it is our intention to set up a "Friends of Trull Meadow" group to discuss and suggest the ways the meadow could be used and managed.
However, more funds are needed to repay the donations that were in the form of loans and to meet our staged payments over the next two years. Unfortunately, our fundraising activity has been affected by the national restrictions imposed because of the coronavirus pandemic. We intent to resume fundraising as soon as we can, with applications for charitable giving from companies and grant-giving organisations and from individuals within our community.
In the meantime, if you feel able to make a contribution, however small, please go to our "How to Give" page.
